University of Alabama extends, expands agreement for ESM spend management
Institution to implement ESM’s latest applications
The University of Alabama has both extended and expanded its agreement to implement ESM’s award-winning tools.
The public research university based in Tuscaloosa, AL, serves more than 38,300 undergraduate and graduate students and is home to the top-ranked Crimson Tide football program.
Since 2013, Alabama has automated procurement and other spend management functions with ESM, so it could rein in maverick spend and gain visibility into how the university’s budget dollars were spent.
With ESM, Alabama has celebrated major gains, including a 132 percent increase in purchase orders processed through the system and a 183 percent jump in total purchase card transactions.
Alabama now will extend its contract with ESM for an additional three years, so it can continue to take advantage of ESM’s procurement, sourcing and contract management tools along with ESM’s latest modules.
With ESM, Alabama already has access to:
- An online shopping portal with only its negotiated contracts and preferred vendors. The intuitive platform helps organizations automate procure-to-pay processes, control maverick spend and gain complete visibility into its spend. The platform seamlessly integrates with its ERP - Banner by Ellucian.
- A fully searchable contract management platform that eliminates bottlenecks in the approval process, avoids unintended renewals or expirations and predicts future workloads.
- Flexible software that lets it configure bids, RFPs, RFQs and other sourcing events, provides sealed bid capabilities and facilitates communication with vendors.
As part of the updated contract, Alabama will license the ESM Purchase Storeroom module, which pulls in physical stores directly into the spend management platform, increasing visibility and operational efficiencies and, at the same time, eliminating redundant spending.
“Alabama is really taking spend management to the next level as it implements ESM’s full solution suite and our new ESM Storeroom,” ESM CEO Anthony Rotoli said. “Our team is thrilled to be able to continue to support them in their journey toward spend management optimization.”
